Vineyard Youth

Our Aim for the young people of MK Vineyard:

  • To help them know God through the Bible and prayer
  • To challenge them to live God’s way in their daily lives.

Age range

MKV Youth involves young people from 11 upwards.

Programme

At the moment the whole church worships together through music and song, and then the different age groups separate to study the Bible at the mid-session interval.

Following Scripture Union’s GRID material, part of the Light range which is also used by Vineyard Kids, each session involves a time to study the Bible and discover what God has to say through his Word. The young people are given time to explore what that means for their life.

Time is also devoted to prayer, both as worship and intercession. This exploration of the Bible is all done in a fun, supportive atmosphere – something that is very important!

Leaders

The leaders of MKV Youth are passionate about helping the young people grow in their walk with God and are experienced youth practitioners.

Child Protection

We are a member of CCPAS (Churches Child Protection Agency) and aim to have all leaders checked by the Criminal Records Bureau. It is our policy that any helper will not be left alone with children at any time where practically possible.

We operate a signing in policy where all parents have to sign the child in at the beginning of the session and will need to be signed out again at the end by the same person, before leaving the supervision of MKV Youth.

Ratios

We have a rota of helpers for each group which is usually 2/3 adults, the minimun ratio of young people to adults as recommended by OFSTED for young people over 11 is 1 adult to every 10 young people. However, our aim is that our ration is always better than this minimum standard.

Socials

We are exploring a number of events to help the young people of MKV Youth develop their relationships with each other and the leaders. These will include, among other things, trips to watch football, ten-pin bowling, and even a residential with other Vineyard youth groups.
